The Maltese Libraries Abroad initiative aims to bring Maltese literature closer to our overseas communities. Launched in March 2025 in partnership with Ċentru tal-Ilsien Malti, the project is led by the Directorate for Consular Services and Maltese Living Abroad, within the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism.
To date, more than 850 books have been disseminated across 10 Maltese diplomatic missions around the world, helping to establish libraries where those interested can Read in Maltese, Learn the Maltese language and Discover Malta’s history and culture.
The books which populate our libraries were generously donated by Malta Libraries, Ċentru tal-Ilsien Malti, National Literacy Agency, Maltese for Foreigners author Dr. Charles Daniel Saliba and Karamellu tar-Raħal t’Isfel author Charles Buttigieg.
