Maltese as a Foreign Language – MQF Level 1 and 2

The Directorate for Lifelong Learning and Employability, within Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, in collaboration with the Directorate for Consular Services and Maltese Living Abroad, within the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, are pleased to invite Maltese persons living abroad to participate in courses in:

  • Maltese as a Foreign Language MQF Level 1 – suitable for beginners, and
  • Maltese as a Foreign Language MQF Level 2 – suitable for those wishing to improve

Those already familiar with the language are also encouraged to apply to bolster their understanding and enable them to better engage with it.

Interested persons are to apply at this link by 19th April 2026, 16:30 CEST. The Ministry will then subsequently contact the applicant on the next steps of the application.

Those applying must choose one of the following courses:

  • Maltese as a Foreign Language (Intensive) MQF1 [5] (Tuesday & Friday 08:00 – 11:00)
  • Maltese as a Foreign Language (Intensive) MQF1 [6] (Tuesday & Friday 16:30 – 19:30)
  • Maltese as a Foreign Language (Intensive) MQF2 [6] (Tuesday & Friday 12:30 – 15:30)
  • Maltese as a Foreign Language (Intensive) MQF2 [7] (Tuesday & Friday 16:30 – 19:30)

Courses start on 2nd June 2026 and run through mid-September (28 lessons total). Each course costs €34.94. Once accepted on the course, applicants will receive a payment link to settle the payment. Payment must be settled within 24 hours of receiving the payment link.
